Tybee Island
Tybee Island is Savannah’s beach, located 20 minutes from downtown. Tybee Island is filled with oceanfront condos, pastel cottages, and beach cruiser bikes galore. The “neighborhoods” of Tybee include North Beach, Spanish Hammock, Back River, Chimney Creek, the classic Center Streets, and the lively entertainment area near the Tybee Pier. The island promotes exciting activities such as kayaking, fishing, and dolphin tours as well as exploring the Tybee Lighthouse and the Tybee Marine Science Center. Year-round residents and vacationers love to walk barefoot on the sand at sunrise or read a book while listening to the soothing Atlantic Ocean waves. Tybee is a local economy and proud community that enjoys annual events and a relaxing beach lifestyle. Time slows down at Tybee and the day’s difficult decisions can often only be where to set up the beach chairs and what seafood to have for dinner. But always remember to have a sunset evening walk to wind down and enjoy some ice cream from The Sugar Shack!
